Well, it's funny, but unconsciously you've picked the example I always use... My son is a professional basketball player, and I find his mental difficulties very similar to any performer artist (pianist, dancer, actor and so on). Most of the people can't even imagin the large range of mental skills you need in order to "perform"! Always in your best... and all the criticism, and your own perfectionism...
